General framework

In order to cope with the requirements of trainers’ training and the educational community in general, Open and Distance Learning (ODL) appears as a strategic way for development.

ODL leads to achieve the objectives of “Education for All” program (EFA) and to establish "quality education" related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

Founded on the principles of openness, open access and sharing, open education allows everyone in the world to lead an original educational experience and use high quality resources.

According to the Open Education Consortium, " Open sharing is probably the most basic characteristic of education".

Sharing Knowledge, thoughts and information allows building new knowledge, acquiring new skills as well as originally innovative ideas.

Open education allows building new models of training, teaching and learning based on the large use of  Internet and the fast propagation of open educational resources (OER).

The open educational resources, developed in an open environment and under a Creative Commons free license, can be used and enhanced by a great community of educators. This, enables them to stimulate pedagogical innovation and introduce new alternatives for effective teaching. OERs have the potential to provide students and teachers with a wide range of content available at the lowest cost possible through textbooks, course materials, simulations, games, syllabuses, quizzes, assessment tools and any other material that could be used for educational purposes.

In the other hand, open education with open educational resources, requires a training engineering, which will be able to determine the methodological approaches needed, in all or part of the training process, and effectively meet learners' expectations.

These methods aim to ensuring efficiency over a deep analysis of the achievements made in each stage of the training. This, includes analyzing needs for capacity building, diagnosing technological mechanisms, designing the training project, financial and material resources to be implemented, and monitoring the transfer of skills and knowledge.

In this optic, and in order to promote OER and to exchange experience about open education and training engineering, The Virtual University of Tunis organizes a colloquium entitled "Open Education, Open Educational Resources and Training Engineering ".This meeting will gather decision-makers, researchers and teachers who will share their experiences and reciprocate their views on the varied aspects of: open training, open educational resources and training engineering.

This symposium will also be an opportunity to offer ideas that help generate and generalize better practices, overcome actual constraints, find answers to the problems encountered and overcome the new challenges of open access Education and educational resources.

The symposium will be built around plenary sessions, round tables and parallel sessions during which the participants will contribute by their testimonies and research to improve the scientific debate on the different axes of the colloquium.
